How the Camcorder Camera Lens Sensor Works
Pocket camcorders use some of the latest technology to produce both HD quality video and still images. As a segment of the broader camera industry, pocket camcorders have become extremely popular. There are many brands and companies that produce pocket camcorders such as big names like Samsung, Kodak and Sony with the Bloggie camera series. There are some factors that divide pocket camcorders from other camcorders. These factors include the type of camera lens sensor that is used. The sensor is important because it determines how many pixels the camera is able to capture per second.
In most pocket camcorders, the camera lens sensor is anywhere between 1/4.5" - 1/2.5", this is somewhere between the size of the camera lens sensors used on mobile phones and some compact cameras. This generally means that pocket camcorders cannot compare to most compact cameras in picture quality. This explains why the average pocket camcorder will only take a 5 MP photo image and 720p HD video. The camera sensors on most camcorders work in many different ways and the focus should not be on just the sensor size, but rather on how the sensor works with other parts of the camera to produce the picture or video.
Some other sensors with adjustable resolution tend to capture more pixels and can then process them to create a more accurate and picture. The main benefit to this is that it will create a more detailed picture that is not smudged or distorted in any way.
Taking into account the importance of the camera lens sensor, it should also be considered that there are other factors such as image stabilizers that help to create a more detailed picture. Some pocket camcorders will come with these image stabilizers and an optical lens (which often have an optical zoom function as well). The result of having these features is a more accurate and steady, focused image. Native HD sensors will utilize an auto focus feature which may be software based and will only render results based on the content being recorded.
Overall the sensor is an important part of any pocket or full featured camcorder. Making sure that the camcorder has the ideal features can result in taking a more accurate shot and recording based on the camera lens sensor, image stabilizer and other essential aspects.
